Shree Banamali Mohapatra

Lifetime Achievement Awardee, 2018
Raised in the sacred temple town of Odisha, Shree Banamali Mohapatra grew up where Pattachitra was not taught—it was lived. From watching natural pigments being ground by hand to seeing divine stories take form on cloth, his journey into art began in childhood, guided by tradition and devotion. Decades of disciplined practice have shaped his signature style, celebrated for its intricate detailing and spiritual intensity. Honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018, Banamali continues to paint not for recognition, but to keep a centuries-old heritage alive—one brushstroke at a time.
"The canvas is silent until you give it a voice with your devotion."

Shree Dr. Jagannath Mahapatra

Shilp Guru & Master Pattachitra Artist
Born and raised in the heritage crafts village of Raghurajpur in Odisha’s Puri district, Shree Dr. Jagannath Mahapatra embodies centuries of artistic tradition in his Pattachitra paintings. In a village where every home is alive with colour and myth, he has devoted his life to mastering and teaching this sacred art—hand-preparing canvases, mixing natural pigments, and bringing age-old stories of gods and epics to life with precision and devotion. His contributions have strengthened the legacy of Pattachitra, ensuring that the intricate lines and vibrant narratives of this ancient practice continue to resonate with collectors, culture lovers, and future generations.
"We do not create art; we only reveal what the gods have already dreamed."

"The hands that craft are extensions of the soul."

Shree
Konark, Odisha

Shree Raghunath Sahoo

Master Wood Sculptor
With a chisel in hand and a chant on his lips, Raghunath Sahoo carves the divine out of Neem and Teak wood. Descended from the lineage of temple carvers who built Konark, his work possesses a geometric precision and spiritual fluidity that turns timber into deity.
"The wood already contains the form. I just remove what is not needed."
